Autism Speaks Walk

Beginning April 2, 2011:: Children's Emporium staff walks for Autism Speaks::GO TEAM JAKE! FACT::1 in 100 children are on the spectrum. Please join me in my efforts to support Walk Now for Autism Speaks!
""Can you imagine hearing the words "your child has autism"? In a split second, life - as you know it - has changed. For a different family every 15 minutes, tomorrow will never be the same.
By participating in this event, you are helping to change the future for all who struggle with autism. By walking, you are getting us one step closer to finding what causes autism, how to prevent and treat it, and ultimately a cure so no family ever hears those words again. Until then, we walk to find answers and raise awareness about the devastating toll that autism has had on families like ours.
I need you to help make tomorrow be about dance lessons, school lunches and first words rather than therapy, doctor appointments and despair. Together, we will find the missing pieces."" www.autismspeaks.org

St. Jude Children's Hospital

In September we host:
"Trike-A-Thon is a fun, week-long curriculum and fundraising program for daycare centers or pre-schools that teaches children riding-toy safety lessons through a series of interactive stories. Children receive these lessons from special St. Jude friends, Bikewell Bear® and Pedals the Bunny™, while raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. At the end of the Trike-A-Thon week, students bring their trikes or riding-toys to school and practice the safety lessons they have learned.
Included in the Trike-A-Thon school coordinator kit is the official Trike-A-Thon DVD, featuring theme song, “Different Spokes for Different Folks,” from kids’ band Hot Peas 'N Butter™. NOGGIN, the commercial-free educational preschool TV network from Nickelodeon, has also joined in the fun of Trike-A-Thon." quoted from www.stjude.org

Fall Festival

Every October, we host a Fall Festival at our school. Local community businesses and families donate food and raffle items for this event. The children and their families are invited to attend and come dressed in costume. We have food, games, face painting, dancing, raffles, and lots of fun!!! All money raised directly benefits local PSL foster families with United For Families "Foster Good Will" program. We help the children have a wonderful Christmas by purchasing school supplies, new clothes and shoes and toys on their "wish list". United For Families is a child abuse prevention program, please visit their website for more information at: http://uff.us/home.php
